Text Box: EARTHcamp inspires kids to love and care for the Earth

The Windstar Foundation offers a unique camp program for children that fosters a love and respect for the EARTH that lasts a lifetime. Science, games, art, drama and music are all part of a curriculum designed to inspire care and concern for the Earth and presented in an atmosphere of fun and camaraderie.

Developed by professional educators, EARTHcamp activities may include:
Trail of Trash—By finding trash that has been introduced into a pristine wilderness area, campers see how harmful garbage can be to the eco-system.
EARTHapple— A simple visualization demonstrates the limited amount of the Earth’s surface available for us to share.
The Potter’s Message—A conversation between a Native American child of the 1800s and a group of modern day children. Together they discover the importance of taking care of Earth...for yet another generation of children!

Presenters will share their knowledge and involve the campers in hands-on activities focusing on animal rehabilitation, Native American skills, bird watching, backyard animal habitats, gardening, arts and crafts and so much more!

About John Denver’s

            Windstar Foundation
The Windstar Foundation was founded in 1976 by singer/songwriter and

environmentalist John Denver along with Aikido Master Tom Crum. It is a non-profit environmental education organization that promotes the recognition and demonstration that each of us is part of and responsible for the quality of life on planet Earth.

Windstar’s mission is to inspire individuals to make responsible choices and to take direct actions to achieve a peaceful and environmentally sustainable future. To that end, Windstar has made education a primary goal, developing the EARTHcamp program, among other projects.

Windstar Connection Groups are formed by Windstar Foundation members working together on a local level to network and carry out projects and forums of an action-oriented, educational nature. Through these Connection Croups, EARTHcamps are being hosted in areas throughout the country.
